Careers

We support our Year 9 students as they begin the process of choosing their Key Stage 4 courses. From the start of term, students participate in a range of GCSE taster lessons delivered by our teaching staff and attend assemblies designed to help them make informed decisions about their future studies. 

Throughout the options process, students will receive guidance and support from their form tutors and subject teachers to ensure they select courses that best match their interests, strengths and future aspirations. 

All Year 10 and Year 12 students will undertake a week of work experience, usually in either the spring or summer term. This is a key component of our careers education curriculum and of students’ wider personal development. Students will be supported along the way to find a suitable placement, and the school uses UniFrog to help students research opportunities, organise placements and record their work experience journey. 

We measure the impact of our career's curriculum against the Gatsby benchmarks which is a framework that the DfE expects schools to use to deliver its’ career provision. We also complete surveys with our students following key events to further improve the careers programme.  

At Marylebone Academy, we value strong partnerships with post-16 and post-18 education and training providers, employers, businesses and industry professionals. 

Throughout the academic year, our careers programme provides a range of opportunities for providers to engage with students. This includes our ‘Futures Fair’, workshops, assemblies, talks and other enrichment activities that enable students to explore the full range of education, training and employment pathways available to them.
