Our Science curriculum is designed to develop scientifically-literate learners who are curious, confident and equipped with the knowledge and skills to explore and understand the world around them. We aim to foster a sense of wonder about the natural world, encouraging students to ask thoughtful questions, investigate ideas and develop a deeper appreciation of how science shapes everyday life. Through an ambitious and inclusive curriculum, students learn to think critically, analyse evidence, solve problems and communicate their ideas clearly and accurately.
In Key Stage 3, students build secure foundations across biology, chemistry and physics, developing their understanding of the key ideas that underpin scientific knowledge. They begin to use practical skills to carry out investigations, observe patterns and make deductions from data.
In Key Stage 4, students deepen their understanding of scientific concepts, use models and the scientific method to explain how ideas have developed over time, and evaluate data to draw well-reasoned conclusions.
In Key Stage 5, students develop a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of life, matter and the laws that govern them, while also evaluating the limitations of scientific knowledge. They design independent investigations, test hypotheses and critically assess their conclusions and methodology to refine their scientific thinking.
